Sakkoulas-online has just published an article by Gregory Pelecanos, Senior Partner, on product prices and competition law.
Gregory argues that competition law is relevant to the “supplier/profit inflation” trends witnessed in Greece and abroad. Especially in national economies where a handful of companies dominate important economic sectors, governments should not revert to profit margin controls and similar market distortion tactics but should act to increase competition and adapt competition law to the oligopolistic nature of the markets.
In the article in question, he also puts forward specific legislative changes that, in his opinion, could bring much-needed structural changes and open up “closed” economic systems.
